Shanika Verasamulati is a 6 month old girl.

She has been previously well, but became ill yesterday with a fever.

She deteriorated and started to fit. Her father called an ambulance then. During the day she became increasingly drowsy and would not wake for feeds. Her parents were about to call the GP when she started to fit.

She does not have a rash.
